The Iowa Advocates for Mental Health Recovery (IAMHR) has established this site to encourage Dual Recovery Anonymous meetings throughout the State of Iowa. The IAMHR recognizes the importance of peer support groups in the recovery process. The specific goals of this site are:
- Locate and train DRA meeting organizers within the State of Iowa.
- Provide meeting site information to potential DRA members.
- Educate potential DRA members to the benefits of such meetings.
- Educate mental health and substance abuse providers about DRA and the advantages of simultaneous treatment of co-occurring disorders.
- Post special event information for providers and DRA members.
It is gratefully acknowledged that Tim Hamilton organized Dual Recovery Anonymous. Mr. Hamilton wrote significant portions of the books utilized for this program. Since 1993, he has operated Dual Recovery Anonymous World Services Central Office at Prairie Village, KS. You are encouraged to review the related web site at www.draonline.org. Much of the DRA program information provided in this Iowa-specific site comes from the Central Office site with the express permission of Tim Hamilton.
This site has been provided through a grant from the Iowa Department of Human Services through its contract with Magellan Behavioral Care of Iowa for Iowa Plan for Behavioral Health Medicaid Community Reinvestment.
